Raphäel Thiessen
Raphäel Thiessen joined the ranks of Q College with ten years experience as an instructor and more than double that as an illustrator, graphic designer, prepress technician and book builder.
A graduate of Mohawk College of Applied Arts & Technology, Raphäel spent several years as a successful illustrator, freelancing for a variety of clients, including The Toronto Star and The London Free Press. He continued his traditional training with a Diploma in Graphic and Visual Design from Kwantlen College and later delved into computer studies, completing the Computer Graphics Technician course at Vancouver Community College. In the following years, Raphäel won numerous design competition awards, and was published in MacArtist magazine.
While freelancing full time in computer graphics and electronic prepress, he has widened his scope to include instructing in his field at his alma mater, Vancouver Community College, as well as Kwantlen College, Langara College, the Open Learning Agency and the Pride Centre. He completed his Provincial Instructor Diploma in 1998, and has been an advisor for West Educational Publishing, MA, for page layout software.
